  1. The purpose of the mission is to provide crucial information and an unprecedented level of knowledge of the planet’s hostile terrain and to assess whether the landing area has ever had or still has environmental conditions favourable to microbial life. It is the first probe with the ability to drill, scoop and lift rocks and soil samples into onboard chambers for analysis, and carries a powerful laser that can vaporise thin layers of material from seven metres away so a spectrometer can examine and identify the molecules it contains.

  2. it’s mission purpose is to see if mars was ever a liveable place. The mars rover can drill, scoop and lift rocks and soil samples into onboard chambers for analysis. They are hoping to find out whether or not mars has ever been able to support life.

  3. The mission purpose is to find out about the environmental conditions favourable for microbial life.
The lander can last longer than a normal one and it will discover more than anything you could imagine.
They want to find out if Mars can support life.

  4. I think this is a wast of money because the money could go to earth not mars. If it crashs they would be stuffed because it is going to go straight back to them and $2.5 billion dallas down the drain

  5. The purpose of the mission is to get crucial information and an unprecedented level of knowledge of Mars’s hostile terrain. Also they want to find out if there is life on Mars or if there was life on Mars. The lander can drill, scoop and lift rocks and soil.

  6. They are trying to find if there is or ever was any source of resource that would be able to make the planet sustain life to decide whether there is any creatures on the planet or if it will ever be possible to live on there. It will stay on there for a Mars year or in Earth’s case, 98 weeks. It will travel around 200 metres per day and have a camera attached to it that shows everything it sees. It has a drill and other digging materials to dig up rocks, minerals and other soils from the planet and put it into a analysis chamber in itself to identify the substance. It also has a laser attached to it that can vaporized and cut through thin layers of rock and ground from up to 70 metres away. It also has a radiation detector to detect if it has any radiation we cannot come in contact with and hydrogen investigation equipment to detect any ice or water up to 1 metre under the ground. I wonder if a alien will find this and ride on it that would be funny on the camera attached to it.

  7. The purpose for the mission is to see if Mars has or had an environment fit for life. It can scoop, drill and lift rocks and soils for the team to analyse. Basically they are trying to look for life in mars.

  8. The purpose of the mission is to find out if Mars has the right environment and stuff to inhabit life. This rover can analyse the earth of Mars’ surface and apparently has “a high-definition camera that can resolve details finer than a human hair on rock”.

  9. The purpose of this mission is to get information about mars and stuff. They don’t know much about Mars’s hostile terrain. Also they want to find out if they’res life on Mars or anything. The lander can drill, scoop and lift rocks.
